However, there have been some players who are known for their penchant to receive their marching orders regularly and here, we take a look at some of them.

It comes as no surprise that Spanish legend, Sergio Ramos tops the list considering that he is known for being the master of the dark arts and is known for being aggressive on the field.

The legendary defender has been sent-off 26 times in his career so far, and the number is also high as he has made more than 900 appearances in his career.

2. Thiago Motta - 16 sending-offs

Thiago Motta played for a number of top European clubs as a defensive midfielder, and he comes in second with 16 sending-offs during his career which spanned 18 years.

The Italian is currently managing Italian side, Spezia.

3. Philippe Mexes - 16 sending-offs

Philippe Mexes was another player who represented numerous top European clubs during his career and he was known for his tendency to make rash challenges.

Mexes also played for France at the international level, and has shyed away from the media glare following his retirement from the sport in November, 2017.
