Christian Eriksen has admitted Manchester United look like "a big shambles" from the outside but insisted life inside Old Trafford is not as chaotic as it may appear.

United have struggled on the pitch this season, with both individual players and Erik ten Hag's ability to lead the team drawn into question as the Red Devils flirt with their lowest ever Premier League finish.

Eriksen admitted things look "messy" from the outside but was adamant that United are stronger than they may appear.

"It's a big shambles if you have to follow it from the outside only," he told Tipsbladet. "I would say that we are well protected by the club and the players have a good community, so in that way we protect each other in the way that we can.

"But there is a lot going on around the club, and of course if you open up the media a little too much, you can fall into it.

"But it is special and hard to read, and I am sure that it must be hard for the younger players when you first arrive and then you have to go through this. It is something else. But there's really nothing you can do about it. It is a big club and there is a lot of focus. When things go well, it's heaven, and when things go badly, it's hell, and it almost happens within two days of each other."

Just last month, Eriksen confessed he was frustrated with his role under Ten Hag, but he went on to insist he remains happy with life at the club.

"I still have a year left on my United contract, so for now, I'm still a United player," he explained. "So what will happen this summer, I don't know.

"But I am incredibly happy to be here. It's a great club and I feel good, so we'll see what happens. But as I said, I have one year left."

Manchester United now sit sixth in the Premier League, and are next set to face Crystal Palace on Monday.
