Alejandro Garnacho's extraordinary bicycle kick against Everton has been named the Premier League 2023/24 Goal of the Season.

The young Argentina international found the back of the net in fine style in late November, scoring an acrobatic effort for Manchester United in their 3-0 win against Everton at Goodison Park.

Unsurprisingly, the goal was subsequently likened to Wayne Rooney's iconic effort against Manchester City in 2011 by football enthusiasts worldwide.

Garnacho celebrated his strike by performing Cristiano Ronaldo's iconic 'Siuuu' gesture, the world-class forward notorious for scoring numerous overhead kicks throughout his career.

"I can't believe it to be honest," United's number 17 said after the final whistle at Goodison Park. "I didn't see how I scored. I just listened to the crowd and said, 'Oh my god'."

It's the first time a United player has won the award since its inception in 2016/17.

Garnacho's goal beat efforts from Man Utd teammates Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo, Brighton's Kaoru Mitoma, Brentford's Saman Ghoddos, Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister, Manchester City's Oscar Bobb and Chelsea pair Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo.

The individual accolade comes after Garnacho played a starring role in United's 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday afternoon.

The rapid winger took advantage of a defensive mix-up between Cityzens pair Josko Gvardiol and Stefan Ortega to tap his side into the lead just over the half-hour mark. Only eight minutes later, fellow young sensation Kobbie Mainoo doubled the lead with a smart finish from captain Fernandes' assist.

It's the second piece of silverware for manager Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, but speculation still surrounds the Dutchman after news broke claiming United would sack him regardless of the result at Wembley.
