Paris Saint-Germain's wonderkid Kylian Mbappé has had a calendar year to remember, and as his 2017 season came to a close on Wednesday night against Caen, the 19-year-old once again proved why the French giants were desperate to sign the Frenchman in the summer.

Mbappé netted in his side's 3-1 win on Wednesday, taking his 2017 tally to 32 goals across all competitions, a feat no player under the age of 21 in Europe's top 10 leagues has achieved since Ronaldo scored 38 for PSV in 1995.

The latest record in Mbappé's short career saw him play 52 games across all club competitions in 2017, scoring 32 goals and providing 16 assists, an exceptional return for a striker who was an unknown quantity merely two seasons ago.

The France international has taken world football by storm, catapulting himself from obscurity to the forefront of the future of the game. His move to PSG, initially on a loan deal, is set to make him the second most expensive player in the world with the deal reported to be in the region of €180m.

However, the rate of his improvement suggests he could be worth every penny as 2017 also saw him finish 7th in the Ballon d'Or - the youngest ever player to finish in the top ten - and become the youngest player in history to score 10 Champions League goals - just to name a few.

His rapid rise to success suggests 2018 could be an even more prolific year for the teenager, with his final record for the year in his last game falling on his 19th birthday.
