Borusia Dortmund are reportedly planning a surprising move for Arsenal's German playmaker Mesut Ozil, as the former Bundesliga champions look to replace Ousmane Dembele.
In a report by the Sun, Dortmund are said to be wanting to immediately re-invest the £130m fee Barcelona paid for their French winger Dembele, and Ozil is among a list of supposed targets aimed at filling the gap left by the talented youngster.
In a week of some heavy criticism of Arsenal following their 4-0 demolition at the hands of Liverpool, contract situations for the club's best players have still not been resolved, prompting further unrest.
Ozil, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez are all in a precarious position at the Emirates, and could be on their way out or leave for nothing next year if they do not sign another deal.
Dortmund will certainly be hoping Ozil chooses the exit door before Thursday, despite the flak he has recently taken from fans and pundits alike over his lacklustre displays in a Arsenal shirt.
His most recent outing saw him meander around the Anfield turf, failing to track back as he looked utterly disinterested. The lethargic display set tongues wagging that Ozil could be on the way out of the North London club - with Borussia Dortmund the club in prime position to make a move.
Ozil has 84 caps for Germany, and a potential move back to his homeland may re-invigorate his energy and motivation he has seemingly lost whilst playing for the Gunners.
