3 Things to Know About AZ Alkmaar's Wout Weghorst as Fulham Contemplate Move for the Striker

Fulham are supposedly still in the market for another hitman to ensure that they continue to find the target just as regularly this season as they did in the last, and AZ Alkmaar's Wout Weghorst is a striker who has recently cropped-up in the 'potential' pile.

Here are 3 things to know about the Dutch attacker, and what he could possibly bring to Slavisa Jokanovic's fold...

1. He's a Giant

Weghorst would make virtually every defender in the Championship look like a mere shadow next term if he is to make the jump to English soil, as he is 6ft 6in, presumably meaning that he is imperious in the air, without having the need to jump, too.

He'd harbour similarities in the penalty area to former Whites man Matt Smith, and will ultimately offer Fulham a different dimension in the attacking third, if they feel the need to lump the ball into the box - if their pretty football on the deck fails, that is.

2. He's a Goal Scorer

Last term for his current Eredivisie outfit, the 25-year-old bagged 18 goals in all competitions, and offered his teammates five assists, making him a prolific performer on the pitch, most notably in the box.

His head would presumably be the weapon of choice, although Weghorst also deceptively possesses a deft touch with both feet, and is surprisingly mobile, meaning that he is more than just an ample handful for the opponent to deal with -  the complete, ideal striker, it seems.

3. He Is of a (Relative) International Standard

Granted that Weghorst has not appeared at full international level for Netherlands, but he has indeed donned an 'Oranje' shirt before in his career, be it just the once for the national U21 set-up.

However he did manage to score on his one solitary outing for the U21's, but that in itself does show that he can capitalise upon the chances presented to him, and a fresh start with a renewed challenge for the Cottagers could kick-start his chances of gaining a full senior cap.
