Pique Admits Neymar Will Forever Remain in Messi's Shadow While Both Are at Barcelona
Gerard Pique left a brilliant reply to Lionel Messi's Instagram post on Saturday, seemingly mocking his teammate's status as the world's greatest player.
The Argentine forward uploaded an image following Barcelona's training session in Miami ahead of their 3-2 victory over Real Madrid, sitting alongside a teammate.
And Pique couldn't resist making a tongue in cheek comment when the photo popped up on his feed.
"The best player in history and Messi," the defender wrote.
There has been no reply from Messi, although he may have had a quiet word with Pique in person.
Pique, though, has waxed lyrical about Barcelona's record goalscorer on a number of occasions.
"We are looking at the best player in history," he said earlier this year. "We have become used to this and we think it's normal, but we know that when he stops playing these things will be difficult to repeat."
And with Neymar potentially set to leave the club in a world record €222m transfer to PSG, Pique has admitted that the Brazilian forward will never be able to overshadow Messi.
"Neymar cannot be the protagonist at Barcelona, because the best will always be Messi, always," he said.
Messi scored a typically prolific 37 goals in 34 La Liga games last season, and found the net 11 times in the Champions League.
