Scouting Report: Taking a Closer Look at QPR's Remaining Pre-Season Opponents

Queens Park Rangers kicked-off their 2017 pre-season with a 4-2 win away to Peterborough on Saturday afternoon. The R's will now travel to Germany for back-to-back games against Union Berlin and Lokomotive Leipzig over the weekend of 22/23 July.

The Berlin fixture holds particular purpose, arranged after the transfer of striker Sebastian Polter back to Germany in January.

QPR's solitary home friendly see's the R's host a benefit match for former legend Stan Bowles against AFC Bournemouth, who is suffering from Alzheimer's. It's also the west Londoner's last fixture before they host Reading a week later in the Championship, in what will be another gruelling and testing campaign.

3. FC Union Berlin (A)

Boss Ian Holloway will be keen for his side to put in another solid shift when they play Union Berlin on Saturday. The game will be played at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei in Berlin, as part of the deal that saw Polter leave Loftus Road earlier this year.

The German side finished 4th in 2. Bundesliga last year, having spent seven consecutive season at that level. It will prove a tough game for both sides, but it's all about match practice at this stage.

2. Lokomotive Leipzig (A)

Fast-forward 24 hours and QPR will likely be fielding a different XI when they face Lokomotive Leipzig. The R's will play at the Bruno-Plache Stadion and whichever side Holloway picks, the players will be keen to catch his eye.

Expect to see some more 'fringe' players in action and the hosts will be more than up for the visit of Rangers. Leipzig have a fairly colourful history in European competitions and will be keen to snatch the win.

1. AFC Bournemouth (H)

Eddie Howe brings his Bournemouth side to west London on 29 July as the R's commemorate club legend Stan Bowles. The benefit match has been arranged on behalf of Bowles, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2013.

The winger spent seven years in W12 and was voted the club's best ever player. It's set to be an emotional affair, with Bowles expected to make his last ever appearance at Loftus Road. .
