Having recently completed the £50m signing of Tottenham star Kyle Walker, Manchester City have identified Benjamin Mendy and Alexis Sánchez as their two main targets for the remainder of the transfer window, according to the Independent.

City have also completed a £10m deal for Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz, although the 19-year-old is expected to spend the season on loan with Spanish side Girona.

Long term target Mendy is believed to be close to signing for the Sky Blues as the mass exit at AS Monaco continues, however, City fans are most keen for the club to complete the signing of Alexis this summer in a bid to win the Premier League title next season.

With the three three main arrivals or Kyle Walker (£50m), Ederson (£35m) and Bernardo Silva (£43m) at the Etihad taking City's spending close to £150m, the signings of Mendy and Alexis would see over £200m being spent by Pep Guardiola this summer.

Full-backs were always top of the agenda for Manchester City this summer, with Aleksandar Kolarov being the only remaining left-back or right-back following the departures of Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna and Gaël Clichy from the club this summer. Should City be able to sign Alexis from their Premier League rivals, it would see the club smash their highest transfer record, currently set at £62m for midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

Guardiola’s side will fly out to the United States this week for their pre-season tour where they'll face Manchester rivals United in Houston, Real Madrid in Los Angeles and Tottenham in Nashville.
