Middlesbrough's new manager, Garry Monk is set to secure his first signings at the Riverside after completing a double swoop for Norwich City's Jonny Howson and Derby County's Cyrus Christie - both subject to the completion of a medical.
Boro's official website announced the club had agreed deals with both the Canaries and the Rams for the midfielder and defender respectively.
Howson is set to undergo his medical on Teesside on Friday, after the club seemingly pipped the attacking midfielder out of the grasp of his boyhood club - Leeds United - to secure the 29-year-old to the Championship side who are aiming to secure promotion back to the Premier League next season.
The attacking midfielder made his professional debut as a 16-year-old, and he will be re-united with familiar faces upon his arrival in Middlesbrough as both Adam Clayton and Patrick Bamford are his former teammates.
Derby defender Christie - who has clocked up over 200 career appearances - will officially join Boro following the completion of his medical and the agreement of personal terms.
The Republic of Ireland international made 36 appearances for the Rams last season, and will seemingly join the club ahead of the squad's warm-weather training camp in Portugal.
Both Howson and Christie are set to inject a wealth of experience into Monk's side ahead of an important campaign back in the Championship.
