Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has sanctioned a £70m bid for Alvaro Morata as the Blues look to scupper Manchester United's pursuit of the Real Madrid striker.
The Mirror have reported that Chelsea are searching for a replacement for Diego Costa, who is on the verge of a return to Atletico Madrid.
Morata has reportedly agreed terms with United, but Abramovich has given the go ahead to join the battle for his signature.
Los Blancos are believed to be reluctant to sell the player for purely a fee, however, and would rather initiate a swap deal should they allow Morata to leave.
The European champions would look to offer both Morata and Keylor Navas to United in exchange for David de Gea, while Chelsea goalkeeper
