Liverpool's chances of signing Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy have been handed a huge boost after contract talks between the Frenchman and Manchester City have stalled.
A host of Premier League clubs have been keeping tabs on the £40m-rated defender after appearing regularly in Monaco's title-winning campaign last term.

The Liverpool Echo reported that Manchester City were frontrunners to sign the France international, but talks have broken down which has provided Liverpool with increased hopes of signing Mendy.
