According to ESPN FC, Juventus are making the move to pick up Leicester City's dynamic play maker, Riyad Mahrez.
Earlier it was believed that Mahrez would either be purchased by Chelsea or Arsenal, with Arsenal being the favorite of the two to sign the Algerian winger.
Mahrez announced that he desire to leave Leicester this summer, and Arsene Wenger sought to bring him to the Gunners as a potential replacement for Ozil.
However, interest in Mahrez has come to a stand still for both Chelsea and Arsenal in recent days, and Italian giants Juventus have seen an opportunity that they are willing to take.
Mahrez has openly stated that he wants more trophies, and desires a place in a club that will provide the chance to win trophies each season. Juventus is such a club.
Part of the reason Arsenal and Chelsea have balked is because of Leicester's price on Mahrez: £50m.
While Mahrez proved he was worth that much in the 2015-2016 campaign, he has underperformed this season, thus creating caution amongst his potential buyers. Juventus, however, still see his potential as worth the asking price.
While they have shown keen interest, Mahrez is not Juventus' main target. Mahrez will be the backup purchase should Juventus fail to sign Bayern Munich's Douglas Costa.
Costa is currently quite sought after, and Juventus would love to bring him on board ahead of other major clubs around Europe. If that path is to close, then Juventus will initiate their offer for Mahrez.
