The agent of Andrea Petagna has claimed Inter Milan are interested in signing the Atalanta striker.
Petagna has been part of one the surprise packages of the season this year, with Atalanta qualifying for the Europa League after their 1-1 draw with AC Milan on Saturday. The 21-year-old has contributed five goals and seven assists in 32 Serie A appearances and has been linked away from the club as a result of his good form.
However, after witnessing Roberto Gagliardini's career stall after joining the San Siro side, the representative warned Petagna of making a similarly hazardous career move.
He told Sky Sport Italia as quoted by Football Italia: “Inter have been interested in Petagna, but his growth must be assessed first.
“He’s in his first year in Serie A and did well. A lot of credit must go to Gasperini, and we’ll see what’s best for him, whether he continues in Bergamo or goes to a big club."
Inter have endured yet another disappointing season, with the side currently eighth in Serie A, and Gagliardini has found it difficult to pin down a regular spot under Inter's numerous managers this season, making just 16 Serie A appearances.
He added: “Gagliardini? He’s young and he finds himself in this vortex, and it’s tough to play at San Siro when the fans whistle.
“He wanted to come tonight, but I told him not to do so because it was right that he remained focused on Inter.
“These moments are part of a player’s growth. He’s a great player and he can become a champion, but he must also go through these things.”
