German giants Bayern Munich are reportedly looking into signing Real Madrid star midfielder Luka Modric to replace the retiring Xabi Alonso.
A report featured by talkSPORT claims that Carlo Ancelotti wants to add experience to his youthful side, especially as Alonso is set to hang up his boots at the end of the season, and views the Croatian as the perfect signing.
The Italian has worked with Modric in the past, and the pair famously won La Decima together in 2014. Although he's already 32, the Bayern boss is willing to cough up at least £27m for his services.
While Modric has enjoyed lots of success at the Santiago Bernabeu, and is still on course to win both La Liga and the Champions League under Zinedine Zidane this year, it is believed that he wouldn't mind leaving Madrid for a new challenge, with the appeal of working with Ancelotti again being enough to turn his head.
Modric is still a top-class performer at his age, and is regarded as one of the best midfielders in Europe at the moment. Since joining Los Blancos from Tottenham in 2012, he has registered 135 appearances for the Spanish side in La Liga.
Whether or not Real will be willing to sell is all left to be seen. However, Modric would certainly provide a great option for Ancelotti at Bayern.
