Despite Real Madrid's 2-1 success over Athletic Bilbao, Cristiano Ronaldo was not a happy man on Saturday afternoon.

The Portugal international contributed two assists as Real secured a vital win thanks to strikes from Karim Benzema and Casemiro to take them five points clear of Barcelona at the top of La Liga.

Despite all his best efforts, Ronaldo was substituted by Real coach Zinedine Zidane, an action which Ronaldo seemed to take issue with. As reported by Marca, the 32-year-old was seen saying: "Why me? F*** off."

Ronaldo was hauled off for Isco as Zidane looked to see off a second half revival from Athletic Bilbao, kickstarted by Aritz Aduriz's strike. Real were ultimately successful but the change upset Ronaldo, who has previously shown his discontent towards Zidane for being substituted.

The former Manchester United attacker was visibly displeased at being withdrawn, but Zidane was ultimately proved right as his late substitutions helped his side seal a vital win. The club now have a comfortable distance between themselves and nearest rivals Barcelona, who entertain Valencia later on Sunday.

Real's next league game sees them entertain Alaves after the international break.
