Antonio Conte will be looking to bring in more depth to his midfield unit this summer, with Turkish sports distributor Ajansspor - via the Daily Star - reporting a proposed move for Hakan Calhanoglu of Bayer Leverkusen. Calhanoglu, a young midfield-ace who'sstill only 23, moved to Leverkusen from Hamburg SV in the summer of 2014, despite being linked with a plethora of European giants at the time.
The central playmaker has helped himself to seven goals this term, providing a further seven assists in 22 games. The player's representative has revealed he would love a Premier League switch, with Chelsea his preferred destination.
I said nothing about Chelsea in the press & didn't talk to any Turkish journalist - neither about the court decision nor about my future!
According to his personal Twitter account, the player strongly denies any conversation relating to the Chelsea move. The Turkish international has since incurred a 4-match penalty for breaching talk agreements, leaving speculation that the talks in question are indeed true. €38m is the rumoured fee.
Bayer Leverkusen are currently 10th in the Bundesliga, with a margin of 11 points separating them from playing Champions League football next year. A move to Chelsea would surely be a step up from his current level and rise the player's stock considerably.
