It probably wasn't expected that people betting on Bayern Munich would win anything much on Wednesday night, given the fact that the German side went into the match as the overwhelming favourites.

Carlo Ancelotti's side recorded a 5-1 Champions League victory against the Gunners at the Allianz Arena in the first leg of their round of 16 match-up, the very same result the Londoners suffered on their last visit to the home of the Bundesliga champs.

Several punters, however, were able to rake in substantial amounts by using the 'request a bet' option on Sky Bet, taking on 400/1 odds on "Lewandowski to score a header and Arsenal to miss a penalty."

As it happens, Robert Lewandowski scored Bayern's second goal off his head, and Alexis Sanchez - who scored the Gunner's equalising goal in the first half - also missed from the spot during the match.

One such lad named Max Reid earned £2000 on a £5 bet, but Sky Bet claim they lost a total of £350,000 on just that punt.
