Liverpool have recalled their young left back Sam Hart from a season long loan at Port Vale.

20-year-old Hart had made 16 appearances so far this season, during his spell with the Valiants in League One.

However rather than recalling the youngster for the purposes of giving him a chance at first team action, it seems Hart was unable to hold down a regular starting place in his favoured position at his adopted club.

The Stoke Sentinel reports that Hart has frequently been used out of position on both wings, and that his departure will make room for additional signings for manager Michael Brown.

Port Vale released a statement commending the defender on his performances during his five-month stint: "Everyone here at Port Vale would like to thank Sam for his time with the club and wish him all the best for the future."

Hart will now return to Liverpool's U21 squad where he was a regular last season.

There is hope for Hart, should he impress back at his parent club. Jurgen Klopp has fielded a number of youth team players in recent weeks, and notably fielded the Reds' youngest ever team against Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup last weekend.
