Paul Merson more than any other TV pundit loves the odd brain fart, but his latest on-air anomaly has gone further than simply mispronouncing Islam Slimani, or forgetting just how much Anthony Martial cost....  He now seems to have forgotten where Premier League legend AND former Arsenal star Thierry Henry is from.

Courtesy of SportsJoe, whilst speaking to TalkSport, Merson revealed his disappointment that Hull have appointed Marco Silva the former Olympiakos manager.

Hull City v Swansea City - The Emirates FA Cup Third Round

“He's won the league at Olympiakos? I could've won the league at Olympiakos!” Merson fumed.

Merson continued to be irate that Hull had not given a young British manager a chance in the Premier League.

"I’m not having it! You can give me stick on that" (we probably will Paul).

"There’s enough British managers out there, come the top of my head, why not Thierry Henry? He’s done his badges, he’s a legend in the game, he’s ripped up the Premier League. If he walked into Hull City he’d give them a lift."

So just to be clear, the first choice off the top of Merson's head is not young BRITISH manager Gary Rowett, nor young BRITISH manager Ryan Giggs, not even his BRITISH Sky co-worker Gary Neville.

Nope Paul Merson chooses Thierry Henry as his example.

Thierry Henry. Mr France himself. The man with a 123 France caps, famous for saying: 'va va voom?' C'mon Paul. Even by your standards that's poor.

Here's what Twitter thought:

Twitter went slightly chaotic for a few hours after Merson's comments, with the former Arsenal and Aston Villa midfielder coming in for a bit of stick.

Until the next one Paul..... merci beaucoup
