Arsenal Reportedly Trigger Leicester Star Jamie Vardy's Release Clause

Arsenal have triggered Jamie Vardy's release clause at Leicester City, according to Guardian journalist Stuart James.

That doesn't necessarily mean that the hotshot will leave the club, but the Gunners will have the right to talk to him if such really is the case.

They famously did the very same with Luis Suarez when the Uruguayan was at Liverpool, making a bid of £40m plus one pound for the striker, but to no avail.

Vardy scored 24 times for Leicester during the season, taking the Premier League by storm and was one of the main reasons why the Foxes pipped Arsenal to the title.

He had loads of help, of course, with Riyad Mahrez scoring 17 goals and making 11 assists, while Danny Drinkwater and N'Golo Kante bossed the midfield.

Mahrez is also said to be a target for Arsene Wenger, as the French boss looks to build on his second-placed finish next season and possibly win the title. Yet a world-class striker is what the Gunners really need right now.

Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck did have good enough campaigns, but that obviously wasn't enough.

Vardy, on the other hand, just cant seem to stop scoring, and has already registered three goals for the England national side. He should be playing a major part in the Euro 16 tournament, which is set to kick off on June 10, in France.

Leicester won't be keen on letting him leave, though, but if the report is to be believed, the striker's loyalty will be put to the test, albeit not a great one, as the Foxes are a pretty good bunch to be around right now.
