Spanish giants Barcelona are keeping tabs on Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, according to The Daily Mail.

The 19-year-old is currently on a two-year loan at Borussia Moenchengladbach, where he has been quite impressive both in Europe and the German top flight.

Having made 30 appearances for Gladbach this season, the young Dane has averaged 1.1 tackles, 2.9 interceptions, 4.6 clearances and 1 block per game. He is also a composed passer of the ball and refrains from diving into tackles recklessly.

Barcelona are reportedly in the hunt for a new centre-back, and have set their eyes on the young Chelsea man with a view to sign him permanently. However, Chelsea are keen to hold on to him, as he is held in high regard by the club and is in line for a future role in the team's back four.

He made his Chelsea debut in October of 2014 in a Capital One Cup match against Shrewsbury Town. Starting as a right-back, and playing the entire 90 minutes.

He would play no further part in the campaign, which Chelsea ended by winning the Cup, but when asked who his Man of the Match was in the final against Tottenham, Jose Mourinho - who was Chelsea's manager at the time - named Christensen.

"Man of the match was Andreas Christensen who played well against Shrewsbury," said the Portuguese coach.

"There are more than John Terry (the official Man of the match for the final) because we are a team. I am proud of the guys."
